Burkitt¢¥s Lymphoma : Case Report and Review of Litersture

Abstract
Non- endemic Burkitt¡¯s lymphoma (high-grade, small non-cleaved lymphocytic type) is rare in non-HIV adult population. We hereby report Burkitt¡¯s lymphoma in a non-HIV adult. Lymph node biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. Patient was treated using 89-C-41 of Margrath for high-risk patient regimen without surgical resection. 89-C-41 of Margrath for high-risk patient regimen is a chemotherapy protocol, consisting of alternating cycles of regimen A (cyclophosphamide (CTX), doxorubicin(ADR), vincristine(VCR) and high dose methoxtrexate(MTX), and intrathcal(IT) therapy [CODOX-M]) and regimen B (ifosfamide, etoposide, high-dose cytarabin(ara-C), and IT MTX [IVAC]) for total of four cycles (A, B, A, B).
Patient was supposed to receive four cycles of the above regimen including CODOX-M and IVAC. Event-free survival (EFS) in protocol 89-C-41 in one trial was known up to 92% at 2 years and beyond. The first cycle of CODOX-M was tolerated for this patient because lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) had been getting lower without too much bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy showing relatively high normal white blood cell (WBC), absolute neutrophil count (ANC), hemoglobin (Hgb), and Hematocrit(Hct) after first cycle of consolidation chemotherapy.
